Uninspired writing is still writing

It’s Day 6 of my 7 Day Writing Challenge.

I slept in today. I’m not really a morning person anyway, but it’s much more difficult to drag myself out of bed when it’s raining. Likewise, drab weather gets me feeling extra lazy, so I didn’t want to do anything but watch puppy videos on Instagram and read a book.

The only priority for the day: secure tickets to Beyonce’s Renaissance tour.

I’d been hoping to get tickets since the tour announcement, but I was nervous about the possibility because of past Ticketmaster chaos (see The Great Swiftie Meltdown of 2022), price gouging and junk fees, and the high demand to see the record-holding Grammy goddess in person. I’m not rabid fan of any artist or celebrity (maybe the Spice Girls), but I have a deep respect and appreciation for the work Beyonce does.

That’s all.

That’s the only thing I could think about writing today, and I don’t think it’s super exciting to walk you through the process and excitement of my getting to see Beyonce this summer.

Today’s post isn’t necessarily inspired or moving, and normally I would skip the day until inspiration struck. But then I realized, uninspired writing is still writing.

I’m still exercising my skills, challenging my creativity, putting words together, and putting it all out there. Like art, the point of me writing every day isn’t to just write when I feel inspired. The point is to do the work I love. Many times, inspiration really comes when I put my head down and just pound away at the keyboard.

Maybe this piece isn’t as emotion-drive, relatable or moving as other things I’ve written and shared; but really this space isn’t for anyone but myself. A place I can click back to and remind myself that I’m a writer and I can just write. Not everything has to be memorable.

Uninspired writing is still writing. And as long as I’m still writing, I’m alright.

Celebratory dance because I’m going to see Beyonce at the Renaissance tour this summer. Have you seen anyone else this excited for nosebleed seats?
